Origin

In the early 1970s, Marissa Jones was a successful atomic physicist working for a U.S. Federal Government funded subsidiary of the Portal Corporation. Tasked with uncovering the secrets of the atom, Marissa worked tirelessly to find a clean, unlimited energy resource.

One day, as Marissa was conducting a particularly dangerous experiment utilizing high levels of radiation, a slight miscalculation caused a massive explosion, creating a quantum singularity that opened a wormhole. Marissa was sucked into the wormhole and presumed dead. What friends and family didn't realize was that the wormhole actually pierced the space-time continuum and opened a direct path between the 1970s and today.

Reappearing in present-day Paragon City 30 years later and sporting green hair and amazing radiation powers, Marissa quickly realized that the old life she knew was now gone. Determined to make the world a better place, Marissa vowed to use her new abilities for good and became The Green Funk, fighting for truth, justice, and the funky American way!
