Email from Microsoft

I got this email the other day, here's how it starts:
"This is a letter to advise you that, starting in April 2005, billing services for game Asheron's Call will be transferred from Microsoft Corporation to Turbine, the original developer and operator of the game."
It then goes on to list all my AC characters, all five of them. Now, I haven't played AC in 3 or 4 years. Do they keep track of every character that was every created?

The simple answer is yes.

The only way to transfer your account is to re-activate it and then go through the transfer process. I believe that if you don't transfer there is a chance the characters will be lost for good. If you don't play anymore then it probably doesn't matter.
