Anti-spyware

Anyone have a suggestion for a good program. Ive been offline for the past week because my comp was compromised by spyware. I had so much on it, the comp would boot.

And don't forget to turn off system restore if running XP.

I had some nasty spy/mal-ware and it kept comming back after scanning/cleaning because of the autorestore
Right click My Computer->Properties->System Restore and check turn off system restore. You can turn it back on after you have cleaned your system.

Firefox had an extension like that so I have that activly running now. I got the Ad-ware, and didnt notice til after I posted earlier but Computer Warehouse techs installed the beta for Microsoft's Anti-spyware so I have three layers running now.

Gonna make it a habit to check everytime I log off. Believe it or not but I found two running when I checked last night! Jawdropping! That seriously ticks me off!

Go To Bestbuy and get Spy Sweeper.

Its not free but it will automatically sweep every week.

I use both of those. I also do the following:

1) Use Firefox

2) Use the Firefox Adblock extension

3) Use Filterset.G with the Adblock extension, with it you won't need to add your own filters, just rely on these (as long as you update them about 1/week or so)

4) Use Hostsman and make sure you lock your hosts file with it

5) With Hostsman use the hosts file located here, just download the ZIP file and load it with Hostsman.

Then of course, there are a few things you can do with firefox and cookies, but if you don't mind cookies, there's no reason to do any of it - I'm just fairly concerned about things like that.
