Sky Captain and the World of Tommorow!

I am going to break into my piggy bank and go see this Friday. I really like the way it looks. I hope it's as good as it looks.

I just got back from seeing it tonight, and I really really really enjoyed myself. I felt like I was a kid again, watching the old black & white Buster Keaton adventures of Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers!!

I really didn't expect there to be much in the way of a plot, and there wasn't, but I went in expecting to have a fun time watching a stunning looking film, and I believe I got more!

The aspect that surprised me was the characters! I really enjoyed the personalities of Sky Captain and Polly and the way the played off each other, especially when Frankie entered into the adventure.

I was also refreshed to see that they made the characters a bit more realistic than I anticipated (Well, Polly was still a Lois Lane knockoff, but then again Lois is just a knockoff heroines from that era) giving both less than glamorous flaws (Infidelity for Sky Capt. and psychotic vengful rage for Polly) that somehow didn't diminish either character's likeability.

Overall, it was a B movie, but a Great B movie with A movie special effects!

Right but B-level sci-fi is not quite the same as hard core sci-fi.

Its B as it a B movie.

I like both really.

I dont know...

Im just not looking forward to retro sci-fi. I liked Rocketeer, Iron Giant, and Flash Gordon (yes the one with Brian Blessed as the Hawkman leader Sticking out tongue). But these days, ever since Firefly, my sci fi taste has become a little more hard core. I read an article yesterday that Tim Minear, the co-producer of Firefly, has secured rights to a Heinlein movie. Im kinda hoping that someone will make Fridday into a movie.

Well if you liked SG, the Roc

Well if you liked SG, the Rocketeer, or Robot jocks, you will like Sky Captain. If you ever played 'Crimson Skies' on your PC you will most like like it also.

There are a couple of places where it seems to lag a little but over all it was a lot of fun to watch. I am predicting a cartoon series and a PC game at least for this one.

I expect it to be a solid b-l

I expect it to be a solid b-level sci fi flick in the same vein as Stargate or The Rocketeer.
