National Treasure

I'll just start out by saying I liked this movie. Probably because I tend to like Nicholas Cage.

Is it a great movie that will be written about and analyzed by critics until the end of time? Likely not.

What it is is just good solid B-level scifi/fantasy. It gave me the kind of feeling I got when I saw Stargate for the first time. This is not a movie that will be beloved, but it is a movie I will buy on DVD and watch a few more times.

Its clever. Both in wit, and its ability to tie together historical events, items, and figures into what was a very workable plot. A plot I enjoyed, a plot that I don't much feel like shaking a stick at right now just because I might mess up the good feeling I have coming out of the movie.

Not to mention it looks like Disney has quite a few good movies coming out next year. Including a Vin Diesel comedy (I kid you not), and the Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy.

Yeah security at all national

Yeah security at all national monuments is pretty tight now. I do remember it being not unlike going to the mansions in Rhode Island when I went to Independence Hall when I was a kid. My guess is the guy who wrote it had a similar experience when younger. I'd wager that in reality there's never not a guard in the actuall signing room.

Nah the biggest suspension of disbelief is that all those events, items, artifacts, and people tie together. But its fantasy so you have to accept it or you'll never enjoy the movie.

Saw it this weekend...

I really enjoyed it too, and my 7 year old was keeping up, and guessing ahead, so it was fun.

********SLIGHT SPOILER**********

The biggest suspension of belief was the whole PA thing. I have just recently got to see the Liberty Bell and Independence hall. It has tighter security than most airports. No way he could have gotten the knife that he used on the brick through security. Much less the guys toting guns around there.

The scene in Independence Hall was cool. When he got that shivers of just realizing what had happened in that room (the siging of the declaration and such). I had those same shivers.
