Strange problem

Ok, whenever I click on
Contacts,
Info on someone,
Or my ID card...
There is a chance that my program just goes away.
No crash log, no program ended abnormal. Just goes away.
Any thoughts?

Found someone on the boards.
with the same type of problem. It is in the Unoffical Issue 3 bugs thread.
I just rechecksummed everything. The servers are down right now, so I will try in a bit.
I think it is releated to all the random pedestrian talking going on. The text buffers are probably getting full. I would guess they don't precache that stuff, so it has to transfer from the server when you click on something. With all the extra stuff being transfered from the pedestrians all the time, it is probably overflowing a buffer on my lower end graphics card.

In fact to force a verify you can just delete the checksum file located in the install directory.
I did notice that they did a stability patch for the mapservers on test yesterday, that we'll likely get early next week. But that's likely to fix lag people are seeing not what you're describing.
This said, I did notice that they said they changed (in the patch notes) about info text now supporting carriage returns.
I've also noticed that the info on most of my characters has been rendered garbled, has bad characters in it etc. When it was fine before. I suspect that maybe you're hitting really bad characters and crashing. In fact, people should avoid the info text editor as it is now worse off then it ever was before.
Maybe if you can get in cleanly to your own ID screen you can wipe and start clean. I imagine a cut and paste from a txt file would work fine in there still.
The garbled thing has me really concerned.

Have you done the recheck of all your files??
Usually every month I've been getting the checksum error and needing to delete that file which then revalidates all my files.
Otherwise you might want to menu - support it or check on the coh forums.
